Chatham's Parkview/ Parkwood Neighborhood
This area lies south of Tweedsmuir Ave. West and was originally just one street, Faubert Drive on which homes began to appear in the early 1960's. The development continued west on Tweedsmuir Ave. to Sylvestre Dr. then Parkwood Dr. which is a quiet crescent and finally the newest street, Parkview Court. A park was constructed, Blyth Park on the banks of Indian Creek and the city undertook a massive cleanup of the shores of Indian Creek in the late 70's and early 1980's with measures to end flooding in the area. Today homes on Parkwood Dr. and Parkwood Court back onto the beautiful Greenbelt Area with Walking Paths on both side of the Creek. The greenbelt winds its way through several southside subdivisions and ends at Indian Creek Rd. West. This is a great neighborhood attraction and although well utilized by area residents, the landscaping allows the homeowners complete privacy in their backyards.
This area is close to Elementary Schools both Public and Separate, a High School John McGregor High and Several Churches of various Denominations. It is close to shopping, the Memorial Arena and the New Lighted Ball Diamond.
