UPDATES FOR YOUR HOME IN CHATHAM-KENT

Are you tired of the overall look of your home? Is it time for some updates. Traditionally, in the winter we all spend more time indoors and it is just human nature to want a change. You may be updating your home to put it on the Market. Spring and Fall are good times to do that. All indications point to a brisk market in the Chatham-Kent area. Or, maybe now is not the right time for you personally to sell but you wantto have a new look. There are several changes you can make without spending a lot of money and they will help you Successfully Market your home when the time is right. Remember Chatham-Kent has many exciting new Developments planned for the near future and people are watching our community. It has a very Affordable Lifestyle and is a a great place to live, retire, downsize or visit. Let's get started with some great ideas. Spring is the Season of color! We are coming out of the drab days of winter and watching for those first signs of green on the trees, shrubs and lawns. The Robins are chirping and we can even spot a bright little Bluejay bobbing around the yard.Summer is colorful and we spend a lot of our time outdoors. Fall arrives and after the bright days of summer when it was light until almost 9:30 P.M. and the flowers were blooming in pots and in the gardens, it suddenly seems dull. The days become shorter and the annuals begin to die. We all spend more time indoors and our thoughts begin to turn to decorating or changing the Decor.

The Living Room, family room or bedroom seem suddenly dull in color to you as well? ADD A LITTLE COLOR: It does not take much. Survey the overall look of the room.If you have a predominant color in perhaps a bedspread, sofa, loveseat or chairs, then add a splash of color with pillows, a throw or maybe a few well chosen accessories such as table top items ( they do not have to be expensive) in a bright color or a new picture introducing an array of colors which you can then pick up in the pillows or throw.

ADD THE APPEARANCE OF SPACE: If the room seems crowded, too full or just has that heavy winter look then there are some things that you can do without knocking out walls. Introduce a little clear glass. This can be done with a new glass coffee table and/or sofa table. Leave the matching wood end tables and just replace the solid coffee /sofa table. You can interchange them now and then for a new look. Add a few glass accessories to those wood tables, clear vases in varying sizes and shapes with crystal marbles, sea shells or colored glass in your Spring accent color. Buy new lamps in clear glass with lighter shades then you originally had.

ADD THE OUTDOORS: Are your old draperies closing off the outdoors, the first signs of Spring and all it has to offer? Tie them back or get rid of them. Make a simple wood valance, cover it with carpet underpad and staple fabric in your accent color and viola' A simple blind can be hidden and can be a solution to unwanted sunlight or needed privacy at certain times of the day.But these are not reasons to shut out the outside all day every day. With just this one simple step, the whole room will take on a new glow!

ADD NEW DIMENSION: Do you feel that front entry, bedroom or bath is just too small. Consider a mirror wall in the front entrance or mirror that wall of closet in the bedroom. If the bathroom is too small and there is no way to enlarge it, then mirror from the top of the vanity to the ceiling instead of just placing a vanity mirror over the sink. You will add square feet without moving any walls. Enjoy your new look! If you like these ideas or want more specific suggestions for your home, call me.
